SPOTLIGHT

INTERVIEW WITH BRIAN BRIGGER, DIRECTOR OF EQUIPMENT OPERATIONS

Brian Brigger

How long have you been with Arizona Athletics and what lead you to a position with Equipment Operations?

I've been with Arizona for about 7 years now. I was a manager in college and I loved being around the team and going to practice and it really stemmed from that.

Tell us a little bit about your job—what sports does your role support?

I mainly work with Men's Basketball, but I also work with Women's Soccer, Men's Golf, and Men's Tennis. I oversee the McKale Equipment room and the ordering of all equipment. That can be anything from socks to uniforms to balls.

What's your favorite part of your job?

The interaction I have with student-athletes and coaches. Getting to know the student-athletes, seeing them work hard and then succeed on the court or on the field. It's fun being a part of the experience.

Coach Miller recently invited you to take part in his Film Room series. Can you talk about that experience?

It was a lot of fun and it turned out well. It was really nice that Coach wanted me to be a part of it. Click on the video below to see Brigger's interview!

How many shipments do you think come through your equipment room?

We probably receive around 1,000 shipments a year. In the summer, there are days where we get 150 boxes, sometimes even more.

Out of all the places you've traveled with teams, what city has been your favorite and why?

Two places come to mind as my favorites. One being Maui—it's a laid back and relaxing place and I mean….it's Hawaii! The other would be Valencia, Spain. It was a small town and the beach was right near our hotel, which was really nice.

You've seen the ins and outs of the programs here at Arizona. Why do you think support from Wildcat Club members is so crucial?

Without donor support, we wouldn't be the athletic department that we are. They make a huge impact. Donations help with scholarships, equipment, travel, and so much more. Like I said, without their support, we wouldn't be who we are.

FEATURED BENEFITS

MEN'S BASKETBALL DONOR TRIP

Each year, the Wildcat Club hosts a Men's Basketball Donor Trip where we travel with members from the Diamond level for an away basketball game. This year we headed to Hartford, CT for the matchup against UCONN.

On the morning of Saturday, December 1, Wildcat Club members boarded a chartered flight headed for Connecticut. After arriving in Hartford, the group headed to their hotel, the Marriott Hartford Downtown, and then out to dinner at the Capital Grille. UA President Robbins, AD Dave Heeke, and Coach Sean Miller addressed the group at dinner, with Miller noting his 7-0 record (now 8-0) versus the Hurley brothers, Dan (UCONN) and Bobby (ASU). He also shared that he and his brother, Archie Miller, have a combined 13-3 record (now 14-3) against them.

Sunday morning, donors had time on their own to explore Hartford before heading to the XL Center to watch the Cats take on and defeat the Huskies. After the exciting win, it was time to head back to Tucson.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for this year's Men's Basketball trip. To learn more about Diamond level benefits, click here.
